ALFANATICAL is a spin-off from my main motoring blogsite MisterMotorMouth.

I have set it up because I am a secret Alfa Romeo fan and I don’t feel that I should go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about them on my other blog.

Whereas here I can – because it is about Alfa Romeos and ONLY about Alfa Romeos.

So the message to anyone who may have stumbled across these words is quite simple: if you are interested in Alfa Romeos, welcome, it is wonderful to meet you – I hope you will find some interest or even enjoyment among the contents of this blog.

However, if you are not interested in Alfa Romeos, you have probably wandered here by accident, in search of something completely different but with a similar spelling, like alfalfa plants. So goodbye and thanks for dropping by.

I should, briefly, explain: I am a journalist by trade – not a knowledgeable, specialist motoring journo but a jack-of-all-trades journo – whose solitary qualification for setting up this blog is a lifelong fondness for cars. My affection and respect for Alfas is a comparatively recent conversion, but no less sincere for that.

My technical knowledge is close to zero but my appreciation of Italian styling is considerable, as is my fondness for Italy and all things Italian. I own a very modest holiday hovel there and have driven around most of the country, including the bottom-clenching roads of Sicily.

Among my regular assignments in my present-day role as a freelance writer is to produce motoring articles for various local or regional publications.

Since 2005 I have penned a weekly column called Motor Mouth for the Blackmore Vale Magazine, which circulates throughout Dorset and Somerset.

My blog MisterMotorMouth.wordpress.com is a repository for my ramblings. It contains the weekly Motor Mouth columns, as well as my Car of the Month features, plus sundry other motoring-related articles and pictures. Many have a local angle as I am based in Dorset.

But here’s the clever bit: because I write under the Motor Mouth pseudonym, I don’t want the magazine readers to know too much about my true mysterious identity, and I have never revealed to them my love – and ownership – of Alfas.

On Alfanatical, though, I can come clean and confess it all: my current Alfa is my fourth and when I win the National Lottery jackpot I shall buy a massive estate with cavernous garages and build up the finest collection of Alfa Romeos this side of Milan.

As a journalist I have access to all the press releases issued by the car industry and available to all accredited motoring writers. Many are desperately boring so are never published in the mainstream press.

On Alfanatical,, however, I can reproduce all the official press releases issued by Alfa Romeo, as well as various other stories, pictures and gossip concerning the marque. Quite a few will be duplicated from my MisterMotorMouth blog.

I hope, therefore, that this will provide a useful site for Alfa news, views and information. Please write and tell me your thoughts and comments.

Unless, of course, you are looking for information about alfalfa, which is a perennial flowering plant in the pea family and has nothing whatsoever to do with a glamorous marque of Italian cars.
